Inputs/changes:

- Our prime commitment during the year has been to create a better and conducive situation for the teaching learning activity of GCS.

To this end:

  • The existing departments and clubs in the school are being encouraged to perform better.
  • Our Science Laboratory and Pedagogical Center have been equipped even more to give sufficient support to the lessons. We are indebted to Mrs. Ursel Stahlmann for being instrumental in securing most the teaching that were bought in Germany.
  • The social work unit has also been very helpful in handling the mainly family related problems some students have by counseling, the students as well as the parents or guardians or by recommending for the necessary financial and/or material assistance that the child need.

We can dare say we have through this unit catered better to the problems and quests our girl students used to have. We have also been able to address more to the very personal problems of the boys with the appointment of the male social worker.

Things yet to be done,

· We will be celebrating the school's 30th anniversary celebration from May 31 - June 3, 2002.

· In conjunction with the celebration, the school will coordinate the grade 6 question and answer contest which is conducted annally between special schools. This program is organized by ENAB (The Ethiopian National Association for the Blind).

Thanks:

- We on behalf of the children in GCS are indebted and so much grateful to you all individuals and organizations like KNH, Interpedia, CBM and all others that have been supporting the activities in the school with the view of alleviating most of the problems these chideren from very destitue families would have other wise faced.

God Bless you all
