After I had made an intensive three day visit to the German Church School (GCS) in February, 2000, it tugged at me to spend this years vacation in Ethiopia and inevitably to visit "my" school! Owing to the friendly support of the principal, Ato Teklu, ("Ato" is similar to "Mr."), and Pastor Krause I had the opportunity to inquire about progress and changes. And in fact I discovered that there had been progress over the last year. This report covers my findings this year and is intended as a supplement to my report of the February 2000 visit. And as last year, I have found the work of the school to be fascinating and moving. THEREFORE I ASK ALL WHO READ THIS REPORT TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOL. THE PEOPLE THERE ARE TRULY WORTHY OF YOUR HELP. [I wish to thank Mr. Richard H. Schellhardt, Nashville, TN (USA) who did a great job by doing the translation of this report.] |

On February, 10th I arrived in Addis Abeba by airplane. The following day I proceeded the GCS for my first visit and to meet with the Pastor and Mrs. Krause and some staff members of the school to arrange for some interviews. It was a beautiful feeling to again be on the grounds of the GCS and I experienced a feeling of closeness. On February 12th I had time in the afternoon to meet at length with the principal and to speak with the secretaries and a teacher. I also delivered the presents that our Church Parish and the Salzmann School in Schnepfenthal (Germany) had sent. They maintain a close relationship with the GCS and provide support for 2 foster children. The next two days were spent entirely at the school so I could learn more about the current situation.
